Two weeks 'til Elizabeth

I agree with most the comments on here. The dress screams Barbie, whether you like the look of the new Elizabeth or not. Secondly, no other doll has such a fancy gown as their meet outfit. That alone is frustrating and probably why they are changing Felicity's dress to the historical atrocity that is her traveling gown. I really wish that that this pink dress would at least be marketed as her christmas gown rather than an everyday dress. Elizabeth was wealthy, but she wasnt royalty for gods sakes! LOL Her every day clothes would have been nicer than Felicity's that is true, but she would not be wearing a ballgown all the time either. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

I'm excited for both the Elizabeth doll and the new B&BW line, of course, much more excited about Elizabeth! I cant wait to see the OTHER outfits that can be purchased for Elizabeth. It seems most people here (even those, like me, who like the look of the doll), deteste her meet outfit. Hopefully she will have something a little less...shockingly pink, surely they'll have to bring out something blue for her, right? with her blue eyes, and it looked like some of her pictures she's in blue.

The fact that Elizabeth is the "richest" doll next to possibly Sam, may be the reason for her fancy dress. The actual fabric of this dress may not be as fancy as it looks either..I guess we will all see soon enough!

Miss Moo Moo is right, the wealthy wore very strong colors in colonial times. You should see what "Thomas Jefferson" is walking around Colonial Williamsburg wearing these days, & he is about as "authenic" as you can get....he is also just walking the streets when I have seen him, so not doing anything formal.

The color may be accurate, but frankly, the dress as we've seen it is all one piece which is preposterous. It should be an outerdress and a skirt. Plus it should NOT be satin. Cotton would be better, and silk would be best. Frankly, I just think it's...ugly.

Did a little research and it is pretty accurate even though wealthy folks tended to wear such fancy dresses for balls rather than everyday. However, considering that she already looks like a plump Skipper doll, it wouldn't hurt to tone down the color. In my research it said that just about all children wore the type of dress that is Felicity's summer dress. I may get one of those for Elizabeth and find another sash in a different color - maybe a nice yellow or something - and save the pink for the Governor's Ball.

My personal view on this line of Bath & Body Works products - why? Please focus on dolls and their accessories. The books that focus on girl issues seem to be a real plus (even though I don't have a daughter) for the company and for girls, but do they have to get into the bath/body line. I don't see it as lasting too long. Bath & Body Works irks me anyway. They keep changing their image. Their current image turns me off completely. I walk past them nowadays when I'm at the mall. And I dislike being accosted by sales people before I've barely gotten a toe in the door.

I showed the picture to my friend...her immediate comment was that they made her look like a Disney princess. While we may not like it, and I agree with what many are saying, this doll, looking like it does, will probably be a huge seller for Mattel/AG, and will hopefully get more girls into AG. That said, if this one does well, are we doomed to more blonde haired, blue eyed wonders (Nellie, etc) and what will be the chances of more ethnic characters (other than Marisol, who fits that bill only a little)coming out in the future? Not wanting to start a flame war, just wondering...

Maybe we should wait and first read the book. It could well be that this dress has some part in it and then we'll know why it has been chosen as her meet dress. Maybe it's the dress she wears at her sister's engagement party or wedding?

I'm not sure if I will ever get her, but I'm still excited. IMO, she looks beautiful on Curt's website. I love the curls hanging out and that pink dress is lovely [img]graemlins/rose.gif[/img] .
